At this time it was held on a tidal river and stared downstream of what is now the Tees Barrage, finishing at the Boathouse beside the Victoria Bridge. After the Tees Barrage was constructed, crews raced downstream and finished at the Tees boathouse then later again at the River Tees Watersports Centre. It became an annual event which, after many years of being only for single scullers, eventually opened up to bigger boats. | ||
