Bells Life (20th July) reported: William Soulsby and S. Moffat (both of Newcastle) have signed articles for a match on the Tyne, according to the Thames National Regatta Rules, from the High Level Bridge to the Meadows House, on the 3rd August for £5 a side, in Mr. J. Hall's open boats, Star and Bells. Mr. J. Newby of the Coach and Horses Inn, Bigg Market, Newcastle is the stakeholder.
