In researching for these history pages, we do come across some odd and hitherto unknown peculiarities and this annual event falls into that category. The event used to take place on an annual basis at Cox Green on the River Wear, which will be more familiar to current rowers as the start/marshalling area for the Hylton Long Distance Sculling Event.
