The Ironmasters Challenge Trophy was initially a trophy awarded to the winners of an annual challenge match between Tees Rowing Club and Middlesbrough Amateur Boating Club. Since 1927, the trophy became the prize for the winners of the premier fours event at Tees Regatta. The first winners of the trophy in open competition was Tyne ARC in 1927.
