Mr B. Wren, was the Secretary of Stockton and Thornaby Rowing Club and after the demise of the Club in 1915 due to not being able to settle their debts, he applied to join Tees Rowing Club with a view to storing his skiff and use the landing so that he can continue his training as a professional rower. Due to the strict amateur nature of Tees RC at the time, the Committee “would not entertain this proposition”.
