20th July - Bells Life reported: Match on the Blyth - match in inrigged 12 foot boats was decided on the Blyth on Saturday, from the High Pans to the Low Quay, a distance of one mile for £5 a side between Williamson of Cambois and William Yorke of Blyth, the latter receiving a one length start. A capital start was secured, but Yorke kept in front throughout the distance, and won after an exciting finish, by half a length. A little betting took place over the issue at even money.
