20th July 1872

Bells Life reported: The final heat of the open Boat Race, left over at the Pitman's Regatta on the Wansbeck on the 5th inst. was brought to an issue on Saturday, and resulted in the victory of J. Rawlins, C. Walker second. L. Lewis, who was unable to find a boat, being absent. The other items were of an uninteresting character.
