Although the Newcastle Royal Grammar School Boat Club has ceased to exist, the boathouse and landing steps still exist. The location is just upstream of the Scotswood Bridge on the south bank of the river Tyne. The clubhouse has been taken over by an industrial fabrication company but the steps are still accessible. These steps were somewhat precarious due to the steep angle and high steps - carrying a heavyweight boat down them was not easy - certainly not for young schoolboys.
