The Northumberland County Championship Regatta was run on an annual basis over a short term by the [[Northumberland County Amateur Rowing Association|Northumberland County ARA]].  In 1983 it was held at [[Cambois Rowing Club|Cambois ARC]] on the River Wansbeck and the championship events were Mens Fours, and Mens Sculls, with non-championship events for Mens Pairs, Womens Fours, and Mens 2nd class Fours.  Competing Clubs were [[Tyne Amateur Rowing Club|Tyne ARC]], [[Cambois Rowing Club|Cambois ARC]], [[Tynemouth Rowing Club|Tynemouth RC]] and [[City of Newcastle Rowing Club|City of Newcastle RC]].
