[[Tyne United Rowing Club]] was founded in 1946 to provide a home for the remnants of the [[Empire Rowing Club|Empire]], [[Hawthorn Rowing Club|Hawthorn]], [[Gateshead and District Rowing Club|Gateshead & District]] and [[Walker Amateur Rowing Club|Walker]] & Wallsend clubs.

Walker and Wallsend Amateur Rowing Club are known to have existed in 1875 - 1898 on the River Tyne.

Tyne United Rowing Club was founded in 1946 to provide a home for the remnants of the Empire, Hawthorn, Gateshead & District and Walker & Wallsend clubs.
