28th May 1887
The Newcastle Evening Chronicle reported: Prudhoe Amateur Rowing Club - A regatta in connexion with this club will be brought off on the Tyne on Monday, at Prudhoe, and for the prizes offered - gold and silver medals. Twenty-two entries have been secured, namely five from the Hexham Rowing Club, one from Fourstones Rowing Club, three from Corbridge Rowing Club, six from Ebchester Rowing Club, and seven from Prudhoe Rowing Club.

11th July 1942
The Newcastle Journal reported: A well-known horticulturist, Mr. Robert J. Cairns (79), has died at Front Street, Prudhoe, where he has resided for 55 years in the same house. Most of his successes as an exhibitor were with sweet peas and leeks. He was for 18 years secretary of the old Prudhoe Rowing Club and was a prize-winning rower.
